UON has been backing local communities in the Pilbara for over 15 years. Our success has been founded on strong local connections and a company culture that emphasises teamwork. It is vital that communities are sustainable in the long term. This requires a commitment from mining and mining services companies to support the ongoing socio-economic development of regional areas.
UON undertakes a range of community initiatives from our base in Newman including our support of:
- The local Tom Price Swimming Club (led by long-term team members Karl Griffiths and Brad Thompson);
- The Tom Price T-Ball Association providing shirts and equipment as they tour the Pilbara to play other teams;
- The Tom Price Townsite Eagles Football Team (competing in the Fortescue National AFL Football League) as Gold Sponsor; and,
- The Pannawonica Primary School by pitching in with other contractors to help install the new sandpit.
