UON opens workshop for families to explore

Oct 25, 2022

The UON Family turned out in the hundreds for the inaugural UON Family Fun Day at the Malaga workshop.

A steady stream of employees and their families ventured into the Production workshop to explore what UON does and where their family member works.

Looking pristine, the workshop was set out to allow families to get up close to the equipment and work areas, walking through the switchboards and generators areas, through the fabrication zones and final assembly.

Pumps, dewatering trailers, headworks, fuel tanks, cable-joining and stores were all on show. Two new service trucks and a Light Service Vehicle were also parked in the workshop drive.

The one-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System was open for families to walk through, along with demonstrations of the UON SMART™ CELL that was launched to customers the day before.

A chance to sit in the driver’s seat of the workshop’s smaller forklifts was a very popular activity, with the horns getting thoroughly tested by the young ‘drivers’ throughout the day.

Facepainting, a workshop quiz, sausage sizzle, coffee van, ice creams, popcorn, balloon figures, lucky door prizes, colouring-in competitions and photo selfie-frame were all extras to enjoy.

Nothing went to waste on the day, with extra sausages and bread rolls donated to Shalom House following the event.
